Elected to be a chairman of “Forum on Dailian” in Tottori, Shogo stated in his speech; “I hope to develop this forum as a gathering of tellers who hand down the memories to posterity”.

Tottori sightseeing convention association has concluded the merger agreement with old eight municipalities on Mar. 29, 1943. As the chairman of Tottori sightseeing convention association (current City-Tottori sightseeing association), Shogo stated; “The biggest challenge we face is fund-raising. We’ll pursue the promotion on tourism in Tottori with an eye on the transformation of this association into corporation or incorporated association”.

“Tourism University (workshop)” has been started on Feb. 15, 2006. The students (participants) attend the lectures and field work. The graduates of the workshop are identified as “sight-seeing meisters”. The “Tourism University” has been founded by the “committee for the formulation of a strategic grand design for tourism” organized by Tottori city, Tottori sightseeing convention association, Chamber of commerce and industry in Tottori. The president of “Tourism University”, Mr. Hachimura, stated in his speech; “We’d like students to learn history and cultures of our hometown, hopefully someday they become the professionals of the sight-seeing in Tottori.”

Participated in the forum titled “Broad-based sightseeing cooperation in Tottori -opening of expressway and high-speed networking” jointly organized by Tottori city, Kurayoshi city, Yonago city, Sakaiminato city in Tottori, Shogo exchanged opinions regarding how to promote local tourism as the chairman of Tottori sightseeing convention association.

Participated in the design business symposium titled “Design Start” organized by Tottori Prefecture Designers Association, Shogo made a presentation from the industry standpoint in the discussion.

Participated in the forum on promotion of tourism in Tottori Sand Dune titled “Aiming to be Sand Kingdom, Tottori Sand dune”, Shogo exchanged opinions as the vice president of Chamber of commerce and industry in Tottori and made a presentation regarding the shortages and problems in Tottori Sand dune to find out the roll of the business community for the promotion of the tourism in Tottori Sand dune.

As a delegate of the inspection party organized by Kyoto Digital Archives to inspect the latest status of digital archive in Beijing, Shogo visited Beijing and inspected the Place museum, Palace culture assets digitalization center, Beijing observatory, The Chinese Century Altar, Beijing Olympic Digital Archives.

Inspected the latest digital archives related institutions in capital region, such as NHK archives and Toppan printing, with the members of Tottori Digital Archives.

In the “Culture and Arts Forum in Tottori”, Shogo made presentation as a panelist regarding the promotion of culture and art activities in 21st century, together with other panelists such as prefectural governor, vice-governor, mayor, and upper house members. As a chief secretary of Japan association of corporate executives in Tottori, Shogo requested to take such measures to promote mecenat of enterprises as the introduction of preferential tax treatment provided for the donations or the expenses on worker dispatching.

Shogo installed the “residential fuel cells for home power generation” at his home for the verification test of such fuel cells fueled by natural gas. This was the first installation of fuel cells in Tyugoku region.

Visited the gas cogeneration systems in Hobart, Adelaide, Sydney in Australia as a delegate of “Overseas Mission 2005” organized by Japan Cogeneration Center.

Trial Drama “Geo-Catastrophe Tokyo” was held in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Shogo appeared in such drama as defendant and achieved popularity.

Trial Drama “Geo-Catastrophe 2004” was held in Tottori. Shogo appeared in such drama as a witness in the environmental problems such as the food crisis, and the population growth expected to reach over 8 billion in 2025.

As a head of delegation to inspect the gas industry in Australia, Shogo visited OG Australia and West Australia project to make research on the deregulated cases in gas industry and on the upstream operation of LNG supply chain.

Organized “Hydrogen Forum in Tottori” subtitled “Prospect for multi-utility business in 21st century with an eye on “Hydrogen era and local production for local consumption” having Prof. Ken Hirata, professor emeritus at Tokyo University, as a lecturer. In the panel discussion, Shogo did his vision about on-site power generation in Tottori city as an alternative for electric power transmission from Nuclear Plant in the neighborhood prefecture, Shimane.

As a delegate of the inspection group organized by gas energy news papers, Shogo visited Puget Sound in Seattle to study the fuel cells and Ballard Power Systems Inc. in Vancouver to research the status of energy industry in U.S..

As a delegate of the inspection group organized by Prof. Ken Hirata of Shibaura Institute of Technology, Shogo visited Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Germany to research the latest status of hydrogen energy system in Europe.

Participated in the “International Conference on Natural Gas Pipeline in North East Asia” having 73 presenters from Russia, Japan, China, Korea, Mongolia, North East Asia countries, and from Europe and U.S., Shogo studied states of pipeline projects in the world including the financial and technical problems to achieve such pipeline project.

As a delegate of the inspection group organized by The Japan Institute of Energy, Shogo visited Sakhalin in Russia and made on-site inspection to research the natural gas project in Sakhalin.

Participated in the Korean ancient history excursion organized by Mukibanda Tottori Prefectural Boarders Education, Shogo visited Korea and renewed his perception for the promotion of cultural exchanges between Japan and Korea.

Yoshihiro Katayama, Shogo visited Korea as the advisor of Japan association of corporate executives in Tottori and promoted utilization of direct flight from Yonago to Soul. The business community in Tottori regards the direct flight between Yonago and Soul, the only regular international flight service, as the keystone which has a major impact on the local economy including the tourism industry.
